Car rental in Osaka - which company has ENGLISH GPS system? -
07-24-2010, 03:19 PM
We'll be flying into Osaka airport with our two small children and are thinking of renting a car there to drive to our hotel in Kyoto that afternoon. We'll need a car with (1) English GPS system and (2) children car-seats. (And we're from Hong Kong, so cars with the driver's seat on the right might be a bonus, but not necessary.)
Any recommendations for car rental companies? Thanks! |

Kibune - weather forecast websites? -

I'm looking for online weather forecasts for Kibune. Any tips? We'll be visiting Kyoto in early August and are trying to escape the heat with a day trip to Kibune.
By the way, any other "cool" side trips to take? |

As for the online weather forecasts for Kibune (貴船), for a week in advance.
http://weather.yahoo.co.jp/weather/j...3/6011112.html Post code (〒601-1112) means the adress of 京都市左京区鞍馬貴船町. (You are from Hong Kong, so I suppose you can catch the meanings of 漢字 on it's page) Needless to say, forecast varies from hour to hour. Please check it out at your accommodation after your arrival. Sorry for my poor English. |

kingindou, thanks for the great suggestions. I think we'll go to the Miho Museum!
ponkikki, thanks! Oh no i didn't realize it would be equally hot in Kibune as in Kyoto!! MMM, I like the train too. We tried the trains with our daughter in Kyoto, Nara, etc. 2 years ago, with stroller and all. So this time we've decided to skip dragging the stroller + baby boy up and down stairs, and also spending time keeping them in the seats |

Most in car GPS have multi lingual settings. You may have to ask the rep to switch it to English for you.
That said, all of the place names and text searches will still be in Japanese on systems loaded with east asian maps. You can always use google maps/earth and note down the co-ords (before you arrive here) then type them in manually. Please ask about ETC charges (toll roads) to find out what you are liable for. Please avoid entering an ETC approach road, it is one way, you will have to pay to travel to the next exit just to get back off. When hiring a car here, look for the most fuel efficient. You can spend allot of $$ on fuel which is about ¥125 - ¥130 per liter |
