Oh snap... I'm just gonna crawl in a corner and die of embaressment now lol
Sorry about that, I guess your signature just caught my attention more than your username XD

Ahh yeah, I've seen those on some travel channels but have yet to stay in one. I probably would have picked one too but I don't know the names of any in particular and when I asked around, I just got thrown the names of a few backpackers hostels so I chose one of them. They seem like they've got a good community with the people staying in the hostel though so I guess there's no reason to worry

Ahh I see.

Sounds like a pretty epic first trip to be doing all that alone.
Although people may call you crazy, you're the one living the good life.

I'm thinking of going at the end of next month into march for around ten days. I was planning on going in the summer, but it's SO cheap now lol.

I'm a little nervous about booking it though, because I'll be going alone. It'll be my first time traveling anywhere, first time taking a plane too, same as Silchuki14 lolz. I do have a couple friends who are at TUJ but they have classes so I won't really be able to rely on them too much.

Anybody think I'm making a bad decision? lol I'd actually really like some advice.

Well it sorta depends on how old you are and if you've done plenty of research beforehand.
If you've got a good travel guide then that's great because it's basically essential for your first time there, especially if you've never flown before, AND you'll be alone!

Well i'm 19, but I'm planning it so that I turn 20 while I'm there lol.

I guess I'll have to do more research, 'cause I literary have no idea what I'm doing, I'm kina just excited that I'll BE there lol.

I was thinking of going on tours, but I want the age group to be around mine, I dunno how hard that would be to find.

There are a couple places I want to see, but not enough to occupy all my time there.

Also I'll probably be staying in sakura hotel which is kind of a hostel, I was thinking maybe I'll meet people there? idk...

I have been looking at a travel guide that I'll probably buy. Are there any guides that you would suggest?

I think I just need a little more convincing, maybe then I'll be less intimidated, by the idea of going alone haha.

I would like to visit Japan as my first travelling experience.
However, my Japanese is not so good, do Japanese people speak good English?

That sounds good

I'm not too sure about tour groups because I never used one on my trip there. :/
There's bound to be plenty to choose from though. I think I remember seeing some speciality tour websites before though, that offered like... historical or pop culture or food tours etc for you to choose from.

I think by the time the time comes, you'd have filled your list. XD

Ahh I've heard of that place. Haven't looked into it too deeply though so I couldn't tell you anything about it. When I went last time I stayed the whole 2 weeks in a Ryokan. On my next trip I'll be staying in a backpackers hostel, and apparently they're quite sociable too.

Hmmm. Well first I think the best travel guides out there are the 'Lonely Planet' travel guides. I heard good things about them, but didn't get one for my Japan trip. I did get one for my trip to Malaysia though, and they are VERY informative. I filled up my entire trip itinerary after just looking through it for 5 minutes! They've recently made an updated travel guide of Japan called 'Discover Japan,' and it's in full colour! (They're usually just in black and white)
Another one I liked (I'm not sure if it's available in your country, wherever that may be) is one made by 'DK Eyewitness Travel.' It has LOADS of pictures and illustrations, and LOTS of details about the country and how things are done. It also has maps etc.

Going alone definitely is a big step. People thought I was crazy, but I went to Japan alone at.... 17, but I'm well travelled and before Japan, have been to many other countries with my parents by air so I know the ins and outs of air travel. Good luck with whatever you choose to do with your travels!
