Japan Experts - Where is this (Kyoto maybe?) - 01-11-2011, 07:57 PM

There is so little chance anyone will know, but I have failed at googling.

Can anyone figure out where this place is?

That is in Anywhere-ken, in Anywhere-shi, in Anywhere-cho.

That picture may look exotic to you, but it really does not stand out at all compared to the rest of Japan.

The only way you will find out where that is, is if you are lucky enough to find someone on here who lives near that area.

Marisa has been to Japan, I'm sure she's aware it's not at all an 'exotic' location for Japan, hence the reason it says 'There is so little chance anyone will know.' If she thought it was so special and exotic, pretty sure she wouldn't have said that

Edit :

The signs indicate that it's 蛸薬師通 (Takoyakushi-dori)。

Oh and to answer the presumptious so-n-sos who posted here before you, who I cannot be bothered to quote as they know who they are:

I said there is so little chance but you never know, so I was exactly hoping for someone who might live local, or have been there recently and therefore know exactly where it is.

I never thought it was anywhere special, if it was somewhere special I think I would have remembered it myself!

if you want to know why I was enquiring it is because I am going thorugh some old holiday snaps (say Hi to me in my kitty hoody) and a photo 2 shots before that one is of a shop I want to see again, so I figured it was possibly on that street. I decided this was a better shot than just the one of a shelf inside the shop!

It is exactly BECAUSE it looks like 99% of places in Japanese shopping districts I wasn't sure where it was and couldn't remember, and had to guess Kyoto from other photos in that album.

Note to all I am not a narutard just because I don't post too often, so don't jump to conclusions about what I think of anything to do with Japan, or why I posted.

Actually, it wasn't that hard to locate; I just googled the name of the karaoke place visible in the photo and the street name popped right up. Spicytuna beat me to it before I could confirm it though

Wow! Nice job. The karaoke sign definitely stood out to me but I didn't think of googling it. Go Native's approach was good too. I'm impressed
