this guy will travel around japan by bike? then he should avoid rainny season like late may thuru early july. and many people say your bike won't get stolen even if you forget to lock it. but it's not. you can get your bike stolen in a flash especially when it's expensive one. I got my bikes stolen several times. and one more advice on bike, don't leave it near any train stations unless you can find bike parking. They will take your bike away since those left bikes cause the traffic jam. and you're gonna have to pay 3000-5000JPY to get your bike returned.
