Hokkaido has remained relatively unaffected by the events on Honshu. All services, transport and power is unaffected. to be honest life is going on pretty much as normal here. So if you do want to come to Japan in the near future why not head up this way?

No I believe we have our own grid up here that is independent to that on Honshu. No nuclear power plants or any other energy generation has been affected here. No transport has been affected except possibly some ferries into ports affected by the tsunami (not sure). No services I know of have been affected in anyway. Life is basically going on as normal. Well as normal as it can considering the destruction down south.

Obviously people are attempting to get on with life as normal but no one can dismiss the images of destruction we have seen or our concern over those affected. In the resort I'm at we are obviously receiving a lot of cancellations from people concerned over travelling at this time. Companies here are looking at ways we can help with relief efforts. Today we have been organising a truck to collect all the goods people wish to donate. It's a very weird feeling really. We come to work and try and get on with life as normal but life really isn't normal anymore and I doubt will be for some time to come.
