Physical condition of Nikko? - 03-18-2011, 12:42 AM

Does anyone know how the shrines and temples and such in Nikko fared from the earthquake? I likely will be there in early June...... and was just wondering.

I know that Mashiko-machi in Tochigi-ken was pretty hard hit beacuse I have many friends there. And Nikko is not all that far from there.

best,

..............john

According to the prefectural report below, Nikko only incured minimal damage as far as the Toushouguu, the World Heritage. No major damage to the buildings have been found though some stone lanters have fallen.

masaegu,

Thank you very much for the info. Appreciate it. Glad to hear that there was not too much damage. Been there a number of times....it's like an "old friend".

best,

...........john
