I will do my Working Holiday next year exactly like I planned.

I think after Fukushima is safe, people also will go to Japan again very soon.

But I do think it will probably take maybe 1 or 2 years.

Fukushima is not really unsafe unless you intend to hang out for extended periods within the exclusion zone. The entire rest of the country is completely safe.
So once peoples irrational fears over radiation, fueled by misleading and sensationalist media reports, have subsided then we'll see tourism increase again.

Pity I can't apply either!

Oh I know! The fear is what humans have, it's our protection measure. And this fear is very understandable and will definitely hold on for a longer period of time by the majority of people.

Oh I know that, still near is question of interpretation.. What is really safe? 30km? Sendai? Or as far as Tokyo?? But the thing is, that the majority of people out there especially right now, Today believe that entire Japan is Nuclear contaminated. Most people believe what the News stations tell them.

And if they say something like this Nuclear accident is the worst tragedy since Chernobyl, then most Western are scared to death.. especially Europeans.

Also what we hear today is that this accident will hold on for years to come and maybe will be fixed in a couple of years. That will hold the vast majority of Western far away from this beautiful land.

I don't believe I will meet many Western next year to be honest.

I'm headed to Fukushima, Sendai and Matsushima in March, among many other places, and I'm not in the least bit concerned about the radiation levels. Fortunately, I don't have to live there, so the exposure I'll get is manageable. The most radiation I'll get is from my Japan Airlines flight (12.5 hours at 35,000ft).
