I often had Japanese people stop me in the street or come up to me on a train, etc, and just want to talk. They'd ask me about myself, or tell me about themselves, and they just seemed to enjoy the chance to talk to a foreigner. High school kids and old people seemed to do this most often. I really enjoyed it.

Hi, I am new to the forum and have been reading a lot of stuff. I am leaving for Japan on Tuesday (the 20th) and will be staying for 37 days. The only real question I have right now is whether or not you can get a Softbank phone while staying at a hostel. Can I just give the address to my hostel? If not would it be better just to give them the address of my friend's house (he lives just outside of Tokyo)? Thanks for the info everyone, and thank you Housetek for making this thread and the videos. I found them all really informative.
