Honestly, the best time to visit anywhere in Japan would have to be the cherry blossom season. It is still cool but beginning to warm and everything has that fresh, spring feel to it.

The second best time would have to be right now, autumn. Starting to cool off and the typhoons are drying up. Winter is also really dry which is nice for sightseeing. But I wouldn't know anything about sightseeing in winter since I snowboard.

So maybe I should go in late June and leave late July? Or perhaps go early July and leave right as August is starting before it gets really hot? Does the rain in June last all day, or is it usually a small sprinkle? Damn, I see that visiting Japan in the summer sucks but I have no other choice.

jasonbvr, yeah I know there are way better times to visit Japan than summer but summer is the only time where I have at least 1 month off. I will surely experience Japan's winter sometime.

Do all travel sites have the same tax amounts on the fuel tax and other taxes? The prices for tickets seem all cheap until the taxes start adding up.
