Hentai is anime & manga, and therefore it belongs in that part of the forum, according to me. but in some cases, i think it can be art. *confusing myself* and i'm not fond of hentai. i prefer yaoi.

Think of all the Venus' from art, these, in their time, were esentially pornographic images. Soft erotica, the one's of women clearly in the nude were not always done out of respect to art or the women. Many of these lounging beauties were done esentially for the aristocratic spank bank.

When Photography came in one of the first things people started to take pictures of were naked ladies, now we call them "Art" and desplay them in museums, then they called them "filth" and hid them under the matresses.

I imagine, as in the past, the lower class artists will get no reconition, the copiers, the unoriginal, the pushers of T&A and little substance. The starters of the movement, the original, the well thought out porn, those with eyes on detail and composition in a few hundred years will be considered visionaries in some nuvou japonisme.
