Looking for a Camera

I'm wanting to get back in to photography (as a hobby) and want to find a good SLR camera. It's pretty much between a Sony and a Nikon, though if someone could point out others I that are better I wouldn't hesitate to look into them. I'd prefer to stay around the $500 to $600 range. And suggestions?

Both cameras are pretty good I say go for the sony

what kind of photography are you going to do? Usually photography use Nikon alot.

I use a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. The main reason I bought it was I'm a cheap bastard and didn't want to have to buy new lenses for a Nikon, etc, although I've upgraded my lenses since I bought the camera body, and I've been using Cannon's all my life except when I was in high school when I used Nikon 8008's film cameras for Yearbook. I've had only small issues with it. Most notably when using the flash sometimes you get a busy message if you want to take several shots in a row, I overcame this by using a dedicated flash unit instead of the on camera one.

Did you adjust the shutter speed?

The top one was taken in sports mode with the shutter at 1/1600.

The middle one was taken out side at dusk so the flash fired witch adjusted the shutter speed for that motion blur. Since the Flash went off the shutter was at 1/60.

The last one was with the dedicated flash so it was at 1/60 as well.

Why no love for Canon?
I wouldn't really go for sony since their lense lineup isn't as vast as Nikon or Canon. Here's my flick although I haven't updated it in ages, I shoot with a Canon 450D and a 50mm f/1.4 Prime.

I've always used SONY purchased in Japan..

their Cral Zeiss lenses offer crystal clear clarity, and if anything should go wrong, of course you have that six star peace of mind back up service that only SONY can offer..

My cams including Video are all SONY from the beginning.. I swear by them..

My partner has a little CANON IXY and it does a great job, it just feels tinny and the parts not flush..

Go for a SONY. You will be glad you did
