Junko Mizuno - Scary Sexy Japanese Artist - 10-13-2007, 03:14 PM

While Junko Mizuno's manga books, art exhibitions and illustrations are largely overlooked in Japan, art lovers in America and all over Europe are smitten by her scenes of debauched depravity featuring naughty twisted girls whose outfits would make pop-temptress Kumi Koda blush.

Mizuno, aged 34, is sweet and unassuming on the surface, although she assures us of a hidden temper more akin to that of her characters. Her latest exhibition, "Tender Succubus," opened on Oct. 6 at Nucleus in Los Angeles.

The Japan Times has a new interview with the Japanese artist here.

Her official website is here.

I'd not heard of her until I saw her stuff on Japanorama and really liked it:

Animations:
YouTube - junko mizuno animations

YouTube - junko mizuno animations 2

Interview: YouTube - junko mizuno interview

Anyway if you've not seen it, it worth having a look at Japanorama, there's a lot of it on YouTube, it's not really in-depth but it's worth watching.

Interesting combination of cute and creepy. Not my kind of thing, though.

I wondered who had done the artwork on Japanorama. I like her style. Reminds me a little of Mark Ryden.
Would have loved to gone to the show.

I think she was the girl who did the animations for the TV series "Japanorama". I think she's awesome.
