EMO is awesome. Just a choice people make with a little different style.... no ones "fault" for "ruining" stuff.

I think the style is sort of the same thing, but its really the attitude you have about it. Like, emos are generally sort of depressed, and that is part of the emo style.

Sorry, didn't read the whole thread but I don't think emo's ruining Visual Kei. I'm a big J-Rock fan and I'm more especially how I look into Visual Kei but I think Emo's are nicer than Visus!!! They have fun with everybody it doesn't matter which drawer of people. Visus are more cockier! They are too into we are freaks we are the coolest freaks bla bla.... I have a lot more fun as a Visu between emo's instead of as a Visus between Visus. Sorry

Isn't some emo style incorporated in visual kei?

Thanks for reading!

VK has mostly been derived from Gothic Lolita in my opinion (Which in itself originated from old victorian/1800's clothing).

VK is a mix of emo and gothic lolita. Emo clothing, with added frills, laces and extensions.

Personally, it looks bad most of the time, like emo clothing.

Another similarity in emo, scene, VK and Gothic Lolita is how the girls fawn over the boys like mindless zombies.

I believe you are referring to the phenomena known as "J-rock" in that last sentence.

"Visuel Kei" has actually been around forever, and is not just derived from Gothic Lolita and Victorian styles. VK is basically just people dressing up in unusual styles and performing something musical, is it not? If you think about it that way, then the first sentence of this paragraph is true. Gothic Lolita is a big part of it though. Emo is just a type of VK, but a westernized version, in my opinion. But normally, when people think of Visual Kei, they think of X Japan, Gazette, Versailles, whatever your favorite J-rock groups are, it doesn't matter. That means Kiss is technically "VK," right? And so is Viking metal. I see it as a perspective kind of thing.

Sorry if I offend anyone here but I honestly think if not most, a lot of the American population is horribly gone wrong. I've lived in America ever since I was 3, and I can tell you they're little sheltered kids and their thinking and judging is based upon what they've seen previously and if you try and briefly educate them on how they are wrong they go into an offended state of denial, and/or try to mock you in front of their little clique. Again I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but that's just my opinion.
