My girlfriend (im no longer with) looked real good in Kimono (but that maybe because I was dating her ^_^;

So what's the difference between a Yukkata and a Kimono apart from the fact that one's worn by a guy and the other by a girl respectively? O.o

lol no thats the common misconception kimonos are for both sex same with Yukkata there for both. The kimono is heavy so its good for in the fall or spring. Yukkata is made out of cotton so it breaths its good for the summer months

Hi,
The yukata(浴衣) is a thin kimono made of cotton.
The yukata is the one wearing it after it steps into a bath originally. It sees
in the hot spring inn in Japan.
Because it can easily put on the yukata, it is popular among young people.

The kimono puts on in summer is called "ro no kimono"(絽の着物).
It is real pleasure of the kimono of summer to wear the cloth thinly
transparent as it is cool.

People put on unlined kimonos (単衣の着物) in June and September. And, it puts on the lined kimono(袷の着物) at other seasons.

The kimono is chosen according to the season and the place so.
