of the time when i go to a store

JayT, are you female or male? I am 5'9" and have lived in Japan for years. I am far taller than the average Japanese woman, so if you are female you are wrong, you are not average height at all. If you are male then you are a bit short by western standards, and about average for younger guys in Japan.

Nobody specified the unit in which we were measuring the pants... I was simply sticking up for the OP, because you come off like a real douche bag.

Me too, complete uncalled-for obnoxiousness there, which seems to be based on the fact that he has been to Japan a couple of times. Size 5-6 will only look big to someone with an eating disorder- it's actually within the average range in Japan.
