I love wearing them, and once you get used to certain things, they're pretty easy to put on. I do have to say, however, occasionally they can be a little impeding. Especially when you need to run somewhere ^_^;

maiko's costume and esp hair pieces change during their training too; the obi gets shorter and the red coller is embroided with white and gold over a period of time

hair styles are very specific in accordence to what part of her coming out a maiko is going through

maiko means dancing child ; mai = dancing, ko = child / young lady.
in kyoto geisha are called geiko = artschild/girl; gei = art
geisha is the tokyo name; geisha = arts person; sha = person, obviously

Yea I knew about maiko ^^ i read Memoirs of a Geisha, that learned me allot. But I want to read Geisha a life too, heard that its much better.
I wish I owned any sort of kimono.

memoirs of a geisha was a fairlt good book, but it should be noted that it was written by an amierican man.

I personally love Kimonos on Japanese girls, I think that they look gorgeous in them and so elegant and graceful. I wish I could get my GF one, I might try to save up the money too, as a present, who would like to get a kimono as a present huh.... Tell me, you guys think that it would be a good present???
