I have finally tried natto. It came with my breakfast this morning, and for lunch, I went out for udon and chose "umedon", to taste the umeboshi, and natto was in that.

So...with the breakfast, I could tolerate it if you mixed it with rice and soy sauce. By itself...yech. In the udon, I didn't mind at all.

and to answer the guy who wanted to know the Japanese name... they are called 中華まん　chukaman or in your case 肉まん　nikuman. (and it is pronounced mahn at the end).
