how common is it to eat fugu? -

In the United States, everyone makes it sound like fugu is so scary to eat and it's SO dangerous. But I heard from my japanese friend that it's not that uncommon. Have you tried fugu?

It's only dangerous when it's prepared by an amateur who doesn't know what to do with which organs. In Japan, fugu is prepared only by the government-licensed chefs.
You've got to try it if you're ever here. Fugu is too yummy.

The so-called gourmets wanted to try a little further so that they could brag about their bravery later on. Now that is just forbidden.
