When I first ate sushi it grossed me out. but I really like sushi that has cucumber and raw shrimp. It was really good I think it was called "California rolls" or something like that...

yeah in Japan seafood is the cheapest. if you want meat like beef it'll cost like $30 for a small piece. way too much I think. There just isn't enough room to grow lifestock so it is expensive.

yeah its so expensive. thats why western tourists always say its expensive when they go to japan at first. because they tend to order the general foods since its the most appealing compared to what they're not used to.

so to any aspiring japan travelers (isn't that everyone here? lol), learn to eat other japanese foods. lol.

We call raw shrimp "ebi". The California rolls I generally see have crab, avacado, cucumber, rice, sea weed, and fish eggs in it. Personally, I like Salmon (sake, though not to be confused with "Sake" rice wine ^_^) and tuna (maguro) sashimi. When I went up north to Minnesota this one time, they had this really great sushi restaurant called Pok's Sakura sushi bar. They actually had Japanese people cooking it. Down where I live (no offense at all to mexican-americans) Mexicans cook all of the sushi. I'm usually surprised though; they generally do a very good job. Kudos to the Mexicans! XD

of course seafood is cheapest on an island. i don't know, but maybe junk/fast food is cheaper (mcdonalds)? I love fish but i don't think i've ever eaten anything near as, errr, "fishy" as japanese food. i guess i'll have to wait a while, in croatia the only japanese food places are for people with 20 thousand monthly income and more
