You people will think of me as strange but... i don't like Sushi. The only things japanese I like (but that is because I was visiting someone in San Francisco and we stopped by Japan Town) are: Yaki Udon and something else... it was a rice bowl with chicken, eggs, and onion...
Pretty lame, huh? I like Authentic Chinese (but that's because that's my race) though... at least some of it... |

Hi. images in this thread make me hungry.
Anyway, I just saw this post and can't resist to give a little response. I happen to know of several places where you may find instant Ramen Noodles. If you go to Japan Centre in Piccadilly, Central London, the most part of lower floor is a japanese grocery shop, you should be able to find a few brand names of instant Ramen Noodle there. A bit pricy though. If you want to save a little money, walk to the street behind Regent street, somewhat close to China Town, there are 2 to 3 Japanese grocery stores where you can also find many stuff imported from Japan too. Cheaper price in general, but I'm not sure about Ramen Noodles. If more detailed direction to those stores would be helpful, I can try showing them in a map. Those stores were once my favorite places to go after school, even though they were in such a tiny size. The last time I went there was like 20 months ago, but I think, and hope, the shops are still there. Hope more Londoners can also enjoy Japanese food (and food shopping) too. Cheers, Meifen |

I'm glad you have plan to go those shops. Sorry that I don't have the map with me now. Can I try to tell you how I usually go there (though I'm not good in giving direction)? From Piccaddilly, walk to Shaftesbury Ave. When you see the theatre that plays Les Miserables, turn left onto that little alley and within one block or two, you will be on the street named either Brewer or Beak Street --- sorry I can't remember this part exactly, and hopefully you will also see a parking building at the opposite corner. Then those little shops would be on the left hand side. Walk toward that direction and pay attention to the shops on both sides. I hope you will see them before you hit Regent St. Hope you also enjoy the shopping. I can spend an hour in those little shops, seriously.
The map you displayed here is the other side of Regent Street. Those little shops can't be seen from there. But the bigger one, i.e. 3-storey Japan Centre, is right on this map, on Piccadilly, in front of a crowded bus stop. .... I wonder if you know this one. |
