How To Make Onigiri:

1. Grab a finger portion of tuna, chicken, whatever...
2. With sticky rice, mold into the shape of a triangle.....
3. Use knuckle to indent the middle of rice shape....
3 1/2. Stick finger portion into indented area.
4. Grab some seaweed (roasted laver.)
5. Wrap it.

Sounds easy don't it?
Too bad I've never made it before but it sounds logically made like this... hahha

Making onigiri super easy - 02-17-2008, 08:10 PM

Hi there, I make it all the time. My host-mum taught me to use saran-wrap (glad wrap/whatever) so that you don't get sticky fingers.

Take saran wrap and glop some sticky rice into it. Salt around the outside, stick some yummy filling in, wrap saran wrap around it and squeeze. Works a treat for me.

I just made some of it for the first time tonight ^.^ It was good and it was easy to make, but it's a little bland. I want to find more things to season it with to make it taste better.

I love it :) - 02-18-2008, 02:03 AM

I absolutely love onigiri - it's the perfect 'grab and go' meal for me that I can pick up from any Japanese market or cafe here in the city. It's filling and delicious. My fave is the Spicy Tuna Onigiri

It's very good but still a little bit boring..
It is quite boring actually. I never really liked sushi that much.
Made some onigiri the other day, but it kept falling apart.
I'm all for mochi now. Anyone had mochi?

I packed a few for lunch the other day! I was so proud that i cold make one and my friend and I were eating them at school and someone asked me "what that green stuff" was and we told them it was seaweed and they just stared at us until they said, "Uh, are you actually going to eat it?" haha I laughed and ate it and they were like, "oookay" haha but yeah, I love them!
