I really want to make some onigiri for lunch tomorrow. It'll be my first time and I'm so worried that I might screw up cos I'm making them for my sister as well! But thanks for the website, at least I make blindly make them!

I made some onigiri for lunch for my sisters and I yesterday. A couple of them fell apart, but other than that it was good. I stuffed them with some tofu teriyaki chicken and it tasted really good.

HAHAHAHA!!

how Ironic!

I had onigiri for breakfast! (although it was around noon when I had this "breakfast")

They sell these packages at Marukai(
HTML Code:
www.marukai.com
).

You just make the rice, stick in whatever you want in the middle, place the rice and your filling on the mat they give you(it's filled with nori) and wrap up the rice in a triangle shape and hold it down with a bright orange sticker that comes with the nori. Then come back to it when you wanna eat it, upwrap it by the pullstring type thing it has, and carefully peal off the plastic.

It works pretty well and you don't need salt or tezu or anything. But I forgot to put in the ume I was gonna put in the middle, so I went without.

And, for the record, I made a plushie in the shape of onigiri!
It's very cute!

You must get SHORT-length rice and it will stick together after you salt it. Put whatever you want inside and put some seaweed wrap-stuff on so the contents inside don't spill out randomly! Enjoy.

Thanks for reading!

i think onigiri is boring. its just rice
with a little bit of fish or meat in the middle.
but i still pack one for lunch everyday xD

I'm from Italy and bread is THE thing I can't do without in my diet.
Yes, that's my fundamental food.
While in Japan I found onigiri are a great substitute.
