I wonder what ramune realy is..... i mean on the back of the bottle it shows the ingredents, but i don't see anything special....
Is it something special or did they just make some random soda and say, "hey, what the heck! Let's call it Ramune!!"
It's got to be something special, because there are lots of different brands that make it, and if it was a brand name, or a secret recipie or something other companys wouldn't have been allowed to copy it, or would they?

Actually I think every otaku in the area knows about it. LOL. They have to get shipments in every day to meet demand. They say it's how they can keep the price so low. They also sell Piqori(sp?) Sweat for a fraction of the cost of most places. Personally I can't stand the stuff, but each to their own. I was shucking out $2.50 at Suncoast while they were open when my friends drug me out and drove me to the store and announced I would only buy my ramune here from now on. LOL You gotta love your friends. ^_^ And yes, I feel extreamly lucky.

WOW, where do you live that they have "otaku" stores? Is it like a national company, or just a local thing?

Nope, not a national company. I live in Alabama. The stores are in Hoover, to be exact. Hmmm...I maybe will take some pics of them, if the owners will allow it, and post them. The name of the food store is Tokyo Asian Food. I love it. Speaking of which, I need to make a trip for some soba noodles. They make them fresh and I've been promising I would make some for my friend. The real Otaku store is called Legion. It has everything. They sell Ramune and other Japanese drinks and snacks, clothing, bags, keychains, cds, dvds, manga, comics, models, roleplaying games, and they even have the only all anime and Japanese film rental in the area. It's great because it is kind of an underground thing. There are no signs. There is no advertisement. You could be standing right outside the door and not even know it. Word passes by mouth alone. Otaku bring other otaku and the business grows. The owner is awesome. He can get you what ever you want or need. His motto is "If I don't have it, tell me and I will order it." It's like a hang out. They have tables for roleplaying or just sitting and talking. Request some music, he'll put it on. They play anime on the tv at the front. Some days I'll just go down, grab a ramune and hang out for a while.

Ok, back to ramune, what I want to know is what is the difference between two flavors. They are both orange or are my tastebuds all screwed up and the lighter colored one is a different flavor? The lighter colored one tastes better.

OH MY GOSH!!! that is like totally the store of my dreams!!
how cool is that! i want to go there so badly now!!!
and about the two ramune sodas, the one on the right i have had before, but i have never seen one that looks like the on on the left- does it say that it is orange flavored? If so, it is probobaly just another brand and their recipie for orange ramune is a little different than that of the other company, but that is just my guess.... you said that you liked the lighter one better, is it actualy good, because i have tryed that other one and i don't like it that much, but that may just be because i don't like orange flavoring. i like oranges, just not stuff that is orange flavored, i don't know why i just never have. But if you think that the lighter one is better, i will have to give it a try if i ever see one

All the more reason to visit Alabama. Yup....well, that's what the woman at the counter told me it said, anyway. Yeah the one on the left has a really good taste, kinda like orange juice but the one on the right isn't that good. Do give it a try. It's awesome.
