So here's the deal: everytime I go to the local Japanese restaurant I want to try sushi but I have no idea what kinda to order. I just tried ordering something random one time and got some kind of sushi made with bean curd. It wasn't too bad but I'd really like to be able to know what I'm ordering. haha

So I was wondering if there was anyone on this site could list some of the types of sushi and what all is typically in it.

Also, does anyone know exactly what ginger is and where it comes from? What does it taste like?

i live in an area where there arent many japanses food places and i would be afraid to eat any raw fish wheere i live
i am a sushi virgin
so when i go to nyc i will tyr it at a really good resturant
i will ask my friend kumi if theres a place she likes to go to...
