What's that な mean, Is it just な、or short for ない

今は彩珠学院の校長だ。。。。。野球を離れてな。。

白鳥は哀しからずや、空の青、うみのあをにも、染まず ただよふ。
美魚さんは白鳥、僕は青、ぼくらは交わらない

That's a strange sentence. Where did it come from?

It is a shortened form of なさい.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

I read it as "I am now the president of Azu Institute...Quit baseball..."

this -な is the particle of the emphasis with this case.
the masculine version of -ね.
it is not strange and not shortened form of なさい.

With no context whatsoever, it read like a strange sentence to me. Hearing that it is from a baseball manga it begins to make sense.

Everyone around me agrees that it is a shortened form of なさい when used in that context.

hmm, 離れてな is possible as a shortened form of 離れてなさい.
however I don't think so in that context.

国語辞典 - な
http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.p...&base=11&row=3

in that context, な correspond to usage of 二.

二 (間投助)
文節末に付いて、相手に言い聞かせるような気持ちを添 える。

I read it as like MMM's post. (and I read 彩珠 = 埼玉 Saitama.)

'shortened なさい or な' is ungrammatical, but I think it's な there by my feeling.
