Can you say like this?
Watashi wa <thing> ga suki desu.

Yes, but if you don't say "watashi wa" or anyone else you'll be implying yourself anyway. Although in some contexts you'll want it... like if you're talking about ice cream and the other person says "banira ga suki desu" (I like vanilla) then you can say "watashi wa chokoreeto ga suki desu" (As for me, I like chocolate). Do you see what I'm saying?

you need 'ka' on the end of that OR you need to drop the desu and use the conversational way of a raising intonation. eg. sukí

usually, if you wanted to say I like some1, "koto" is often added (at least in anime XD)

Girl ver watashi/atashi/watakushi ha (person) no koto suki
Boy ver ore/boku ha (person) no koto suki

while in japan i had both with and without koto. maybe more without.. people normally just said to me 何が好き？ but this was usually when the topic was already specified in the conversation.. for example we might have been talking about food so they just asked me what do you like, rather than what food do you like etc.
