Help me learn basic Japanese!

I've always wanted to learn how to speak/write japanese, but im not sure where to go to look for help? The best way to learn a language is to speak to people in it. So I thought i'd try online!

There are many websites out there for Japanese learners (mine is in my sig).

This site actually has a section devoted to finding language exchange partners so I'm sure you can find Japanese people to chat to on msn or whatever.

Bear in mind, the average Japanese person probably doesn't know how to teach Japanese very well. Added to that, they will probably expect you to teach them English as well.
