message translation question - 06-07-2008, 08:33 PM

question about a paragraph...

I'm hoping for a reply soon, if possible.

Is this translated correctly?

It looks like the day came for you to leave. It's a sad day now.

I hope to see you in another group, someday. It would be even more sad if you never were in a group again.

I will miss you in meth.

translation:

1日がいなくなるためにあなたを迎えに来たように見え す。 現在、悲しい日です。

私は、別のもののあなたがいつか分類するのを見ること を望んでいます。 グループにあなたが二度といないなら、さらに悲しいで しょうに。

あなたがメタンフェタミンでいなくなると寂しくなるで しょう。

hide... always in my heart. I love you.... my pink spider....
My one wish is 2 meet Kyo. seriously.
R.I.P. Jasmine....

To be honest, your translation has big issues. The biggest one is that you sound more like a robot than a person. I wouldn't mind doing it for you if it weren't about meth.

メタンフェタミン = methamphetamine

メタンフェタミン = methamphetamine
It's the name of a band, not someone actually on drugs...

Thanks MMM. That solved everything, literally.

How about something like :

「あなたが去っていく日が来たようですね。悲しい一日 です。

いつかほかのバンドに参加することを願っています。も う音楽活動をやめてしまうとしたら悲しすぎるから。

Meth でのあなたが恋しくなります。」

I didn't translate it myself.

I can't read that, Nago. I'm sorry.

All I know is I want exactly the words I used in English.

I used this site:

http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/

hide... always in my heart. I love you.... my pink spider....
My one wish is 2 meet Kyo. seriously.
R.I.P. Jasmine....

Use Nagoyayankee's translation. It's an excellent literal translation of what you meant to say.

Never trust online translators!

you know I just looked at what the site gave me, for the Japanese translation. And in one part of it, it had no twice? Is that normal?

As far as using online sites... that site was linked from japanese.about.com, so I think it's ok?

Can you tell me what Nago's tranaslation says in English? Cause if it's not exactly what I wanted to say, I'd rather not use it.

Rather picky aren't you?

You do realize that you can't always keep the exact wording when going from one language to another?

There are a few parts of the grammar I'm not too sure on, but I kind of get this out of it:

"Looks like your day to leave has come. Its a sad day.
I hope that you join a band somewhere, someday. **This next one I'm not sure about** Because it would be too sad if you were to stop being active in music.
I miss you in Meth"

I'm sure I'm a bit off, as I said there are some grammar points I'm not sure on.

I yearn for you in Meth.
(I couldn't express effectively this concept in english... be aware that from my translation these words carry a stronger menaning than they actually do in japanese.)

No, it's not. On-line translators work only for some words or basic expressions, you can't rely on them when translating complex sentences or long text. Use them only to guess the general meaning of a text written in a foregin language.
Try translating Nagoyankee's text from Japanese into English. Does it sound right? That's a proof that online translations aren't good.
