Not especially, Lolx5
The Japanese R is somewhere between L and R in terms of method of pronunciation so I can understand the confusion, but I dont think there is any real difference (certainly none you should worry about) between kara and any other word. (plus kara is such a recognisable word, it would be hard to be misunderstood). How much Japanese do you know? If you're still in your first 3 years or so of learning Japanese, then I wouldn't worry too much about exacting your pronounciation yet! If it really bothers you, try listening to Japanese radio or TV for "kara", and try and imitate it. |

it's neither an L nor an R. it's something called an alveolar lateral flap which is pronounced kind of like the r in Spanish's pero. Though, in my personal opinion, at least, i think it's more of a tap...but i digress.
you may want to try fixing your pronunciation. even if it doesn't bother you, it bothers me. |
