I was in a bar, and some random old chap comes up to me and strikes up a conversation. He was creepy, and somewhat drunk, but in the interests of furthering my Japanese I talked to him for most of the night

On the up side, he did buy me a couple of drinks, and anyway, here in Japan the chances of anyone actually murdering you is pretty darn small. lol

On that note, how DO you say "hugs n kisses" in Japanese? Somehow I get the feeling that putting "ハグとキス" at the end of a mail would get one some strange looks

Been there before

Although, despite my girlfriend teaching me the Kagawa dialect, people tell me I sound like I'm from Osaka. lol.

EDIT: Nikko, I hope you didn't take offense. Maybe I'll ask my gal what would be a good/interesting way to close off.

The reason I say "ハグとキス" (and the like,) would make little sense in Japanese is because the Japanese aren't as physically intimate as us, maybe this is the reason I've not seen an equivalent phrase in Japanese. I'm guilty of putting a few x's on the end of some of my mails, and I had to spend another 2 emails explaining what it meant.. Still, I guess it's nice to know some of these Western things still haven't completely permeated into Japanese culture

Well, I made a Kana Matrix that you can use to find the pronunciation of any Hiragana or Katakana character without any key.

Um... I saw a Japanese woman when I was in Malta and randomly walked up and introduced myself in Japanese.

I learned the word for squid, so when I was on the Shinkansen (新幹線) from Tokyo to Kyoto, I thought it would be funny to say, 私は墨魚です。(I think that Kanji is correct) and the woman next to me burst out laughing.

I wrote katakana and hiragana all over a few school worksheets and all over a test once.~~ Craziest I can get.
