well i was curious if shunsuke could be a girl's name too because if you look up shun it's a girls name in japan. but there is guys with the name shun too. the chinese version it's both a unisex name. but i could be wrong about shunsuke it could just be a boy's name.
-Joe p.s. do you pronounce the name shiori like story? because my friend, john's wife is having a baby next month and the name sound like stori. |

As Emiluvsmusic said Shunsuke could only be a guy's name and you pronounce Shun like 'put'. I can't really come up with a good example
Oh, and about the girls names you posted earlier (1)~(5).. well Shinko, which is (1), isn't really a Japanese name. It does sound like it but hm, I doubt that any Japanese girl has it as her name. The others sound right, though. What about Shion or Shiori? Those are some names I came up with for a Japanese girl's name |

There seems to be so much misinformation in this thread. As a Japanese native speaker, I'd like to help clarify a few items if not everything.
1. Forget about that website that generates your Japanese name from your original name. That's just rediculous. Why do you even think that someone can give you both Japanese first name and last name? Your name will stay the same except for the pronunciation and the way it's written. If your name is John Smith, it will be ジョン・スミス(pronounced 'Jon Sumisu'). It will NEVER be Takeshi Yamamoto. 2. Almost no parents would name their daughter (or son) Shinko because it sounds too much like the colloquial word for a male body part that I won't identify on JF. 3. When you hear "Japanese" names in manga/anime/video games, don't automatically think they actually exist in the real world. I've never met or heard of a female named Shun. It sounds very masculine in the Japanese ear. |
