Need A Nice Japanese Name - 09-04-2008, 06:03 PM

Hi I'm a fanfiction author and I've recently decided to write Japanese fiction. SO I really need a nice Japanese name for the female lead.

I need a name which could mean one of the things below:
Blue Star
Dewdrop
Snowflake
Shooting Star
Or anything that means innocent or has star in it.
I need both the first and family names as well. I'm new to Japanese you see.

well hoshiko is a female name you could use. hoshi means star and ko means child and is a common ending for girls' names. and here's a link for surnames:

Who would you want the name to sound/look good to? In other words, what language group readers do you have in mind?

I could give you as many Japanese names as you want, but not all of them would sound good to those outside of the Japanese-speaking world.

Well, it's an English fic. So doesn't matter much. As long as I explain later to them that the name's beautiful and has a nice meaning.

Also I really like Hoshiko.
Is there anything that has Snow it in as well? Like "Blue Snow"?

Just asking though.

I thought Tanaka Hoshiko was a good name.
What do you think?
Do you guys know any better ones?
Also does Tanaka have a meaning?
Could someone please translate the meaning of both names?
I really appreciate the help.

Tanaka means ricefield-center. Tanaka is so common name, be ranked in the top 10.
Family name with snow at random,
Yukino snow-field(plains)
Yukisiro snow-white, snow-castle
Yukimura snow-village
Matuyuki pine tree-snow
Sirayuki white-snow
Fubuki blizzard
etc...
Fubuki and Sirayuki are a real name, but sounds a bit fictional.
Aoyuki sounds fictional, but not so weird.
Hosiko can be used as a family name too. Seiko is more common reading as a given name, but Hosiko is ok too.

Blue star, aoihoshi, is good but long name. Maybe if you like

Hikaru or Hikari 光 mean "Shining" or "light".
Hoshi 星 is a name and hoshiko 星子 too.

Good names too, Mami 真美, means true beauty. Ayane あやね is a good name too. Or Ayumi, あゆ美 is a good way.

Last name, very common is Suzuki and Sato. 田中星子 is a good name.
