For native English speakers, Japanese is supposedly a language of Class 3 difficulty, with German having a Class 1 difficulty (1 being easiest, and 3 being hardest). Not being a native speaker, and considering sentence structure is reversed, I'd say Japanese would be a harder language, though I don't know German.

there's a really good website called elanguageschool.net where you can learn many different languages, including german!
The birds and the bees sing, "Momiji". The frogs in the pond are ca---lling, "Momiji, yes, it's true." The trees raise their leaves to--ge--ther, "Who needs the sun when we've got you?" Who's in the forest stro---lling? The birds and the bees sing, "Momiji". The frogs in the pond are ca---lling, "Momiji, yes, it's true." |

For me, German would be harder because I wouldn't be able to pronounce the words as easily since it sounds like it all comes from the throat.
