I found this expression by chance in one of my "dictionary journey". Can someone explain how it was made this? I mean I can't figure out how those 2 sweet animals can be linked to bad luck.

Sorry but you seem to have heard wrong (and the opposite). Those two animals are the symbols of good luck and longevity to the Japanese.

What it says on my dictionary is that that expression is used against bad luck (just like a knock on wood for English people)...sorry if my words were misleading. But I guess you answered to me anyway
