Kanji de Manga - 12-12-2008, 08:49 PM

I'm not on the level to start learning kanji yet. I just finished up hiragana and I'm going to start katakana soon.

Despite that, I'm wondering about the Kanji de Manga series by Manga University. Has anyone here ever tried it? Is it any good? I'm thinking of getting it for when I start kanji.

Thanks.

I have the first of the kanji de manga books, but i can honestly say i've never read it (I just used the kana one to learn hiragana and katakana)

But looking through it now it looks ok.
It's main problem i think is the fact that it only has about 80 kanji in it...

Although having said that it does have a small comic strip for each kanji in which normally 2 characters say a few lines of dialogue to each other, with an English translation written at the bottom of the page so i guess it could be kind of useful in that sense.
It does also have stroke order... Which is very valuable indeed.

But again i can't really say much about it, since for learning to write and recognize kanji i have found "Remembering the kanji" by James Heisig to be very helpful indeed.

If i see a word with kanji i recognize i just learn the reading from the sentence that i see it in.

Anyway, what i'm trying to say is that if you think reading little comic strips will keep you interested enough in it to carry on then at least try the first book and see where it gets you.
