Erm.. I may be wrong.. but I don't think thats Japanese.. and if it is, I've let myself down because I should know it.

There isnt any hirgana to add context or tense or anything... and I've never seen half the kanji before.

Also, ive seen the symbols in red on many chinese wallscrolls in the local takeaway..

It's Chinese. But the characters pretty much all exist in Japanese. The reason you don't recognize some of the characters, Shad0w, is because the first pic uses what is called something like "stamp script." I can't remember the exact name, but you see it often in people's hanko and things that intend to feel a bit "old."

"You ino wi baka" is definitely not Chinese! The "wi" is an impossible pinyin/sound in Mandarin, much like it's impossible in modern Japanese.

It's just very old Chinese.
