Surprising that you were using Japanese programs on your computer in Italy in 1985, chryuop. That's pretty hardcore. My family in the US barely had a computer (way out of most families' price range in 1985), and the US is the origin of the PC.

Whatever program you're talking about, DuoMaxwell2x4, the same capability is possible for free if you have a Windows install CD. On Mac, it comes as a default.
But nice that you can write in Japanese now. Congrats!

What version of Windows do you have? Because if you have XP, you most definitely can type "hai" and get はい. That's how I did it before I got my Mac. That's how it works in Linux and and OSX, too. I've done it in all three.

Btw, Nagoyankee is a native Japanese. I think he doesn't need that software.
