Thanks so much! I have a fair number of friends who are fluent, but all live far away and have concerns like babies and graduate school which seem to be a bit more pressing to them than this. I appreciate your help, big time.
Incidentally, can you tell me your source (in case I want to refer to it again), or is this your translation? Either way, thanks again! |

Hi, I would like to know should I use "着替える" or "はき替える" for underwear, hat and gloves?

There's a list of questions I want to ask today, if anybody is free enough to help.
1. 奏ちゃんも特別だよって言えたらよかったのかな First, I need someone to check my translation for this line. Code:
a/ Can someone tell me what むきーっ means? Is it similar to むかつく? Or does it bear no lexical meaning? b/ In this context, would it be okay if I translate 泣きべそ as "emotional"? c/ へのつっぱりはいらん感じです All I can guess about this line is that it has something to do with the へ shape and the wrestling move in the pic. What exactly is the girl saying? 3. A : 生徒会主催の演劇? B : ええ、毎年一般生徒が生徒会の出し物を選ぶのですが今 年は演劇に決まったんです。 A : もしかして紫苑さんお出になるのですか? B : 去年生徒会の方々にはご迷惑をおかけしてしまいました から...お詫びも兼ねてお受けすることにしました。 a/ Just to be sure, does お出になる mean "to appear on stage"? b/ Can someone tell me what お詫びも兼ねて means here? Does it just mean "to apology"? Or is there still more to it? 4. http://i.imgur.com/QLaqW.jpg What is it between 風とともに and が? It looks like 去りぬ to my eyes, but there doesn't seem to be a verb with that negative form. 5. http://i.imgur.com/l9Z8M.jpg a/ Does おりこうちゃん means a pet? b/ Is the last word in the last bubble 関の山? 6. http://i.imgur.com/Q8cFo.jpg a/ Does 預かって mean "to receive" in this context? b/ Does 木の役 mean a minor role? 7. http://i.imgur.com/YfBTc.jpg みなまで言わなくて結構ですっ Does this line mean "There's no need to say everything"? Also, thanks masaegu again for answering my last post |

2a. It is like an onomatopoeia used when one is angry. Usually it is only kids who use it. 2b. Yes. Or "wimpy". 2c. It means "I am useless.". The phrase is being used parodically from another manga 筋肉マン. Don't worry as this is not a regular phrase known to everyone. 3a. Yes. 3b. It means "as an expression of apology as well". A very Japanese phrase. 4. It is 風と共に去りぬ. = the "official" translation of "Gone with the Wind", the novel and film. 5a. No. It means a "bright kid". りこう = 利口 5b. Yes. 6a. Exactly. 6b. Yes. "A part with no lines". 7. Yes. "Don't read everything you are seeing." Your Japanese proficiency shall be in direct proportion

Thanks again for the clear explanation, masaegu. There are some interesting stuff here. I'm going to add them to my flashcard deck
