Friends, could you help me with this sentence (again)? - 男の色気 - 06-14-2009, 04:09 PM

Friends, could you help me here?
I don't understand the term "otoko no iroke" (男の色気) in this context of seiyû's interview.
1- あれは,なんかエッチっぽくていいなぁと思ったなぁ(笑) [男の色気ってあるんだなぁ]っちょっと思いましたね。
男の色気を感じさせる名キャラクター。

I don't understand if this "otoko no iroke" must be interpreted as "yaoi" or as "homossexual sex appeal".
Summarizing, it says "seiyûu stayes ill at ease for to confess that male character is sexy and attracts even the men or does he just says 'there is a moment when we think 'this guy is gay!" ?

男の色気を感じさせる名キャラクター。
Once more, "a character sexy even to men or a character that looks to be gay"?

Thank you very much - I searched a lot for to try understand this term.

色気(iroke) means "Sex appeal" and mainly used for female.
"otoko no iroke" (男の色気) is "Sex appeal" used for male but it is not masculine.

I think it is mostly used for a handsome boy but not limited for gay.

minminRW, do you think he just says: "there is a moment we think 'that guy is sexy..."? "this character attracts even men (because is handsome)"?
because the character in question looks a beautiful woman.
For me, this a very hard passage for to translate, coz the seiyû even laughs.
How would you translate these 2 phrases? (I confess I don't think they have a homossexual connotation).
Thank you very much, my friend.

Ah, that is easy.
You referred "A person looks a beautiful woman", so "Otoko no iroke" means just "feminine charm (despite male)".
Maybe the speaker meant "He looks more charming than real girl."

It is different from what I said in former thread.
