So i did some reviewing and I remember potential form

example

はなす＝はな（せ）る

My question is. if you want to but a potential form into polite form would it be

はなせる　or　はなせります

would I do this for all verbs to?


like if i wanted to say 本を読めばあたまがよくなれます
If i read books, I will be able to become smart.
Would that be right?

はなせります is incorrect. Say はなせます.

Yes, you can put all verbs into these two forms, but verbs do conjugate differently with many exceptions.

本を読めばあたまがよくなれます is incorrect.
本を読めばあたまがよくなります is correct.

lol was conjugating it to say I will be able to become smart, just testing if it would work. Which I think it will.

Regardless of whether or not you get a reply from a native speaker, you probably should not ask a question and then say the answer is wrong.

it is mostly like this:

verbs with a stem ending with the i (ki, ri, shi, mi, ni,...) will often be verbs that can easily be put in the potential form.
example:
行きますー行けます　ー　行くことができます
話しますー話せますー話すことができます
読みますー読めますー読むことができます

tho verbs ending with an e sound will have another conjugation: ～られます
食べますー食べられますー食べることができます

tho some verbs just dont sound right if you put them into the potential form, like なります.
For example in the sentence you used:
if I read books, I will become smart. well, in this sentence you implement that if you read a book, you definitely will become smart, therefore you cant use a potential form in Japanese.

Though your idea was understandable, but it is just one of the many exceptions in Japanese

Ok, to change all verbs in a potential form is very simple. I assume you know about the verbs godan and ichida.
For the verbs godan:
Change the final U of the dictionary form in ERU.
For the verbs ichidan:
Change the final RU of the dictionary form in RARERU.
Fo the irregular:
来るー＞こられる。
するー＞できろ
All verbs so obtained will belong to the ichidan class.

I don't remember who, but someone had told me once that being できる the potential of する, makes no sense the form することができる. However, if you google it, you will get hundreds of milions in return so I guess you can still use that form (even tho I admit it sounds very redundant).
If a native speaker can explain it I would be very grateful

now, Ichidan verbs are　たべます　so it becomes られる　so 見るー見られる
