To any of you who are serious, I might also recommend the Japanese101 podcasts. They break stuff down into pretty manageable chunks and have different levels of podcasts based on how advanced you are. Not a bad way to start.

ohk this is how i learned it.. first go to Livemocha register they have free japanese lessons,and its pretty good.
