Tsugaru Dialect or French? -
11-01-2010, 09:34 AM
Check out this new TV commercial for Toyota! The woman driver in it speaks in Tsugaru dialect and I can't catch a word of what she's saying though I'm a native Japanese speaker. So they provided subtitles!
EDIT: YouTube video pulled, but you can see the commercial here: passo ハナ女子大学 -MMM This dialect is spoken in Aomori Prefecture in Northern Japan. |

Nobody in that commercial is from an area that speaks Tsugaru-ben.
Riisa Naka is from Nagasaki and I think it is pretty clear she is speaking French. Morisanchu (trio) is not from that area either, so it would be weird for them to use such a dialect. I think the joke is Riisa Naka is speaking French and the Morisanchu girl wants to look cool by speaking French back, but is speaking Japanese with a bad French accent. |

Not sure how authentic they sound native Tsugarians but apparently they both are speaking 津軽弁
