Mysterious kanji inscription on ring - 11-23-2010, 08:20 PM

Hi,

Is there anyone who could tell me what this inscription means:


I would need it translated and written uhm... in roman characters?

When read from right to left, it's 「隆昌」, りゅうしょう (ryuushou), prosperity.

More likely it's in Chinese though, which would be "昌隆" (Pinyin: chānglóng Wade-Giles: ch'ang(1) lung(2)), in which case it means "prosperous".

"隆昌" is also a county in China.

Both "隆昌" and "昌隆" are also valid personal names in Chinese (usually male), and I think 「隆昌」 can also be a valid male personal name in Japanese.

If it's supposed to be in Japanese, then it's "Masataka", a masculine name.
