Hmm... Mabey I translated it wrong? Or is it because I used Hiragana?

Ah well its still cool.
I think キアラン is better for Ciaran.
キーラン is generally for Kieran.

Hmm... not a complaint and not offend you,
Sometimes I saw like a "Sanyu - Japanese name" on some English forums.
But I can't imagine Sanyu for a person's name with Japanese and never heard it.
Though it can be for a company's name or a Bonze-like name, it's different from a general person's name and sounds like a Chinese's name in Japanese.
Does this name come from Anime? I'm interested why it's seen on some English sites.

No, it doesn't come from anime (at least to my knowledge). One of my Japanese friends' name is Sanyu, which is why I put it on the list.

I asked her via email. It appears that in my initial translation of the name I was incorrect though; it doesn't mean just "happiness."

She said her name is spelled as 三幸. San, as in "three" and "yu" as in "happiness." She's the third child in her family, so she's their "third happiness" ^_^.

Thanks again!
I heard it for the first time. it sounds like a Korean pronunciation 'yu' - '幸' to me.

Push F7 after you input your name. it converts to katakana.
