I thought about something like:
アーネ
Since you don't pronounce the "r" in the middle of the name (in my opinion..) it's the best solution you can find, because the "ー" is stretching the a.

In his language you do pronounce the r, though. It's an uvular trill or roll or something. See above in his post with the IPA rendering of his name. He's got that upside-down "R."

Referring to your mp3, the last choice (which is mine :P) is the best I think.
The "r" in the one above is really disturbing me, especially the Japanese pronunciation which makes it more like a "d"/"l" sound.

That helped a lot, the last two sound quite good the difference between how you actually speak the r. In the north more the 4th, in the south the 3rd.

Yeah, that's really what I was thinking about the "r." My southern "r" is atrocious, so I have always preferred Northern German for that reason. I speak no language that has that sound, so it is preferable to avoid it! Hah.

Also, you picked the username "Aquilas" because it is etymologically related to "Arne," right? It's a good name. It's like the Spanish "Aguilar," too.

Indeed, but i got it from the Latin word 'aquila'. I didn't like the a at the end so i changed it to 'Aquilus'. Later I found out that 'aquilus' means something like blackish or darkish(not black or dark!) in Latin.
