Looking for accomodations... could someone help me with some Japanese-ony sites? -

My fiance and I will be married in May and are planning our honeymoon in Japan. We intend to stay 3-4 weeks, so we were thinking that a monthly mansion would be a good idea. Only trouble is most of the sites are in Japanese!
Does anyone have the time to help me with a few sites? I have already found several options that sound good, but I can't read the fine print. My Japanese is very limited... I can make out the key points but that is about it. I would need someone to just read a site for me, and then maybe help me contact them. Hopefully if I can get past the inquiry forms the people that work for the mansion will speak English. Thank you very much to anyone that can help me with this!! The best site I have found so far is http://www.ondm.net/ by the way... it makes it a little easier because you can pull up a map and see where the places are located. And, so far the ony listing I have found that lists a double bed is this one in Osaka http://www.ondm.net/search/mansion/m/map/pid/1275/ ... which is one reason i need someone to help me translate. I think some say you can have two people, but still only lists a single bed... I am wondering if they offer a double bed option. I really want to stay within walking distance of Kyoto Station, but Osaka might have to be the place if I can't find a double bed in Kyoto... or at least two futons. |

I would advise you to go to the Japanese LiveJournal community (link), as they have more people who could help you with this particular kind of request. |

In many cases, they have a loft with more sleeping room. When I had family come to visit, we made use of a monthly mansion - it had a single bed on the ground floor, and another single bed up in the loft. I doubt you would have too much trouble with getting an extra bed or futon. The biggest problem is that some of these places (actually, a lot of them) use a hard design plan. The furniture is built into the room. There is a specific spot for the bed, and as it is part of the room there is no way to just move it out of the way and put a larger bed.
There is one thing that does worry me a bit with your plan - when my family was looking around (or rather, when we were looking around for them), unless the monthly company was accustomed to renting to foreigners (which means they tripled their prices) they required a Japanese cosigner of sorts. We ended up just renting it for them, as it was a lot of trouble. Anyway, here is a list of a few more sites you might want to check out; http://www.leopalace21.com/ http://www.702622.com/ http://www.good-monthly.com/ http://www.mrb.co.jp/ http://www.monthly-sstyle.jp/ http://www.apamanshop-monthly.com/ And this is one that is dedicated only to Kyoto - http://www.monthly-kyoto.com/ |

Thanks for all of your helpful suggestions! I had never found that livejournal link before, it will no doubt be a good resource.
And, Nyororin... thanks for those links! I had seen a few before, but LeoPalace looks great! I saw a video on their site of their loft apartments and it looks perfect. I don't have time to look through it thoroughly because I am at work... but I did send them an e-mail asking if they had anything that fit what we are looking for. Thanks everyone! |
