Fox’s “Dragonball Evolution” premiered in eight Asian markets before its April 8 domestic opening. Director James Wong’s live-action adaptation of the famous Japanese cartoon series created by Akira Toriyama co-stars Justin Chatwin and Chow Yun-fat and drew $10.1 million from 2,110 screens.
Following heavy prerelease promotion in the region, it premiered at No. 1 in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore. The China opening tally, $3.4 million from 855 locales, was Fox’s fourth-highest weekend opening in the market. “Dragonball’s” No. 2 Japan bow produced $3.3 million from 540 screens. So the DBZ live action film has been released in theaters eh?
I watched the trailer a few weeks back and I must say, I thought it was totally pathetic. I have been a DBZ fan since I was just a child, and this movie doesn't do it justice at all. That's what you get when you let American Cinemas try and re-create a classic anime with live-acting. I don't intend on seeing it. I hope anyone who watched it, saw at least one good quality from the DragonBall universe... |

The worst part is both Master Roshi and Bulma are Asian... But miraculously Goku looks like a character from Beverly Hills 90210.
And Piccolo doesn't even look like Piccolo. I own the ORIGINAL Dragon Ball live action movie... and I think it will probably be better than this FOX craplog. |
