Someone already pointed out that Yimou is Chinese, not Japanese, but I really love his work. I've seen almost all of his films going all the way back to Red Sorghum. Nice to see him working with Gong Li again.

Zhang Yimou is great. I get so excited when he releases a new film. Hero, Crouching Tiger, and Flying Daggers were all wonderful pieces. The way he shows the scenes with the colors, and everything blends in with each other. very beautiful. Especially Hero. But my favorite is probably Flying Daggers as well.
I have yet to see The Banquet and Curse of Golden Flower. |

Kanji-the-wanderer, i agree totally with you, i think the way he uses the natural settings around where he works on his films is great, for example the blend of the trees and use with bamboo in comparison with what they wore in house of flying daggers was amazing, and the start in the poeny pavilion, with the dancing and echo game, the dress and colours in the background was spectacular, i have also yet to see 'the banquet' and 'curse of the golden flower' but hopefully purchasing them next week
Will. |
