You're right, they do. Maybe it was just that they didn't want it coming out "Sajie" and so pronounce it differently than it's spelled. Do you know how they pronounce it like on stage?

We Japanese pronounce it as Sah-dee. If you want to hear it said, go watch this video. The host says the name at 00:38.
