Smoking in the first place shortens your breath. Breath is very essential for singing. Smoking itself doesn't directly damage vocal chords, but it gives you problems with breathing, which creates stress on vocal chords and damages them. Add the screaming..yeah xD

yeah i saw much cases were the fans collapsed due to screaming XD so crazy...

Wir schliessen uns ein would pretty much mean 'we're locking ourselves up'. In the meaning of that. *nod* Shutting ourselves in.. as in.. in ourselves.. like that.
